Upgrade & Migration of SQL 2000 Server to SQL 2005 Server on 26 August '07

Dear Clients,

We would be upgrading & migrating our current SQL 2000 server to SQL 2005 server on Sunday, 26 August 2007

Servers Impacted: SQL.DNSRACKS.COM

Why the need of Migration? :
As a part of our Quality assurance policy we regularly upgrade our infrastructure to meet the Industry standards & to protect the servers from any possible sign of crashes/downtimes. Since hard drive of the servers are mechanical devices hence we have a time frame of upgrading the hardware the moment it reaches its 3 years running phase. Our SQL server had been running since last 3 years on the same hardware with only 2 GB Ram. Further It was time we upgrade it to SQL 2005 since a lot many customers had been asking for it.

Migration Description:
During this time we will be migrating the SQL to the new server

Intel Xeon Clovortown 2.0 Ghz Quad Core Processors
4 Gb Initial Install Ram
2 X 250 Gb HDD
100 MBPS Port

Currently we plan to migrate the databases on the SQL 2000 platform only and once the database are moved on the new server we shall be giving way to the customers to migrate to SQL 2005.

Migration Date: Sunday 26 August 2007

Migration Time: The Migration would start at Morning 10.30 GMT 5.30 + (IST) time and would be completed by evening 4.30 PM.

Maintenance Impact:
As a result of this move, you should expect the sites to be down during a significant portion of the above noted maintenance windows. Actual amounts of downtime will vary from site to site due to the large number of databases we would be migrating

What you’ll have to do:
We’ll take care of everything and there is a rare probability that you’ll have to do anything. All is required from your side is to ensure that you are using SQL.DNSRACKS.COM in your connection strings connecting your database to the server and that’s it…if you are using SQL.DNSRACKS.COM in your connection string instead of IP address then you won’t have to make any changes and your sites should start working immediately.

We appreciate your business and will do everything in our power to minimize downtime while safely and securely moving servers. If you have any questions related to this announcement, please mail us at info@technodg.com and we'll be happy to assist you.
